Hello AJ readers!
Earlier this week, I introduced a new monthly piece I’ll work on this year. At the end of each month, I will have a round-up of what businesses opened, closed, or confirmed they are expanding to Lubbock. The January 2023 piece included restaurants, retail stores, a hospital and an amusement park. After the article, Optimum opened a third location at 3204 W Loop 289, Suite 200.

I also rounded up some possible Valentine’s Day events and dinner reservations. From movies to five-course murder mystery dinners, there is plenty to do in the Hub City during the romantic weekend.

Livingston Hearing Aids, a family-owned company that started and still operates in Lubbock, is celebrating its 70th year. Dr. Hunter Gerhart talked about what the milestone meant to him, personally and for Livingston.
“It feels really amazing to be open, to serve and enrich lives through better hearings throughout this many locations,” Gerhart said. “It’s a great feeling to be part of that history. We’re really proud of what we’ve accomplished.”
Touching on anniversaries, Two Docs Brewing Co. celebrated its 4th anniversary this week.
Going into next week, keep a look out for an article on an upcoming luxurious new business. Next week’s Around the Hub will be done by Mateo Rosiles, where he will recommend some things to do for on Valentine’s Day.
