Sullivan’s Island property sells for $2.8M > Charleston Business Journal

1714 Middle St., Sullivan's IslandThe Cassina Group founding partner Jimmy Dye participated in the sale of 1714 Middle St., a historic property between the lighthouse and Fort Moultrie on Sullivan’s Island. The property sold for $2,785,000. Dye, broker-in-charge, was the only agent involved in the transaction.

Located in the heart of Sullivan’s Island, this historic property was built in 1902 and served as the recreation hall and post exchange for Fort Moultrie.

MTV News is shutting down as a result of layoffs at Paramount.

The news division’s shuttering comes less than a week after Paramount Global’s first quarter earnings call, during which the company posted significant losses including an 11% drop in television advertisement revenue.

In a memo to employees provided to USA TODAY Tuesday, Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, praised the success of Paramount+ and Showtime shows like “Yellowstone” and “Yellowjackets” but said the company continues to “feel pressure from broader economic headwinds.”

Bears look to begin demolition on remaining Arlington Park structures

The Chicago Bears take another step in their long road towards building a new home on Wednesday. The team filed paperwork with the village of Arlington Heights to begin demolition of the remaining structures of Arlington International Racecourse. The news was first reported by Robert McCoppin and AD Quig of The Chicago Tribune.

It’s the next phase of the team’s desire to build a multi-purpose entertainment district on the property after they officially closed on the land earlier this year. The Bears entered into an agreement deal on the property back in September of 2021 to purchase the 326-acre land

The honor for Abdirahman Kahin, CEO and owner of Afro Deli & Grill in St. Paul, was announced at an awards ceremony in Washington DC marking National Small Business Week.

Kahin, who immigrated to the US in 1996, opened Afro Deli & Grill in 2014 as a fast-casual restaurant serving healthy, fresh African fusion cuisine.
